Traditionally, Chapter Committee Chairmen are appointed by the Chapter Chairman to serve a term concurrent with the Chairman. Generally, committees are established to assist the Chapter Executive Committee in the operation of one or more aspects of the chapter.

COMMITTEE OBJECTIVES


1. Program Committee


  • To increase the knowledge and further the professional development of Research Triangle Chapter members, by ensuring productive meetings with relevant speakers.
  • Broaden awareness of the Chapter through interesting programs, attracting prospective members to ASIS membership.
  • Prepare a back-up plan, in the event a scheduled speaker becomes ill or canceling.
  • Provide written confirmation and "thank you" letters to all speakers, with a copy to the Chapter Secretary.
  • Survey members either annually or biannually regarding their interests.
  • Provide each speaker with any speaking aids he/she may require.
  • Introduce speaker at the monthly meeting or provide bio sheet for the introduction by the Chapter Chair. Send copy to communications committee to publish on web page.
  • Schedule meeting locations and meeting sponsors and coordinate meal costs.


2. Membership Committee


  • To provide prospective members with membership information.
  • To review all membership applications for eligibility requirements.
  • Process all applications within thirty days.
  • Produce and/or update local membership directory.
  • Handle the registration at all chapter meetings.
  • Greet members and guests as they arrive.
  • Identify and welcome prospective members.
  • Call new members and invite them to the next meeting.
  • Provide all members with name tags.


3. Public Relations /Communications Committee:


  • To develop the chapter web page as an interactive resource for reports and security related information.
  • Co-ordinate online meeting and event registration using the Chapter web page.
  • Develop an information and support network to assist security and business leaders in the region, drawing on the expertise of CPP and other security professionals.
  • Partner with other chapters and associations to provide access to regional, national and international news and events.
  • Develop contacts within the community and the media.
  • Be aware of all Society and Chapter activities and promote them where possible.
  • Add new member applications to the chapter database.
  • Send out notifications via webpage mailer.
  • Update and make changes to webpage content.


4. Placement Committee


  • To make available to local employers (whose positions fit the background of the employee) the resumes of chapter members listed as seeking a new security related position.
  • Provide employers with the means to post local security related vacancies.


5. Law Enforcement Liaison Committee


  • To create a partnership that fosters interaction and effective communication between all levels of Law Enforcement and ASIS Research Triangle chapter members.
  • To keep abreast of law enforcement and private security industry involvement in the community for possible Law Enforcement Day awards.
  • To invite law enforcement guests to meetings.


6. Certified Protection Professional Representative


  • To keep members informed of testing locations.
  • Help members set up study programs.
  • Keep members informed of all new CPP's in the chapter.
  • Serve as an advisor on all matters regarding the CPP Program.


7. Special Events Committee


  • To schedule traditional special event meetings held every year, e.g. Law Enforcement Appreciation Banquet, picnics, golf outings, etc.
  • Provide speaker with any speaking aids he may require.
